"I need a Favor."

I mentioned this in a response to a previous post but I've decided to give it a post of its own because 1) I'm getting old and I'm repeating myself, but especially 2) I'm getting old and I'm repeating myself. So:

Today, I would appreciate it if you'd give some encouragement to someone who needs it. Think of someone you know, maybe close at hand--in the same house, even--or someone you haven't had time to talk to lately--and let them know they're important to you, they make a difference. It doesn't have to be a grand gesture; you don't have to get any mushier than you're comfortable with. It can be something as small as calling them up and telling them a joke; emailing them a funny photo, a cartoon, or an article (or a link to an article) that caught your eye and maybe made you think of them for whatever reason. Or you can turn to your partner (or partners) and tell them once again why they make your life worth living.

Hell, do something nice for yourself because I said so, because I'd do it for you if I could be there.

And if you're a procrastinator, great--do it tomorrow, or the next day, because it's nice to have something good to look forward to.

It doesn't have to be big. Just be a bright spot in someone's day. A life-savour, so to speak. You can do it for a total stranger if you like--I'm not fussy. But it occurred to me this week that we take the people in our lives for granted sometimes--OK, I do that sometimes, but I don't think I'm the only one.

I don't usually do these things, except this one seems to have a lot of comparatively "older" fans involved. And that always makes me happy. :D And I already made few awesome new friends there today!

You know what I TOTALLY just got about the Supernatural S6 premiere? Dean faced off with his ARCH NEMESIS, the EVIL Yorkshire Terrier again! It was the thing in the tool shed that he found and Lisa mocked him for almost shooting. Remember when he was paranoid back in 4.06 "Yellow Fever"? That one had a cute little pink bow in its hair, though.

Hey! How come you guys never told me about "Sanctuary"? I saw a post about the latest episode, and I liked the logo, so I checked it out online. I'm only on episode 5, but I REALLY love it so far! The mysteries, the creatures, the human-ish characters. I'm so hooked. I'm trying to get some writing done, but it's hard to do it when I'm so enthralled with what I'm watching on my computer!

I'm not going to cut for Gossip Girl this week, because there's no spoilers in my wrap up. I REALLY hate this season so far. I was so excited that no annoying Taylor Momsen would be present, but... alas, it's not so. There's too much Vanessa, and the only characters I actually don't loathe are Blair and Serena. I even hate Chuck, and not in a fun way. It's a real bummer when even your guilty pleasure show gets so annoying it's not fun anymore. Oh, and Juliet? Sucks extra hard.

Whereas Castle, on the other hand, becomes more and more wonderful and charming every week. *snuggles Castle* Castle's family, especially, continues to rule the universe. ( Read more... )

So... I watched Suck: The Movie last night, and I'm not really sure what I think about it yet. I mean, it's exactly the kind of B vampire movie that I love. It had Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Dave Foley, and Henry Rollins in it! Okay, the more I think about it, the more I love it. I loved the completely OTT look of the vampires (hello, the female lead is HOT, dudes. Seriously.) The music is mostly crappy (it's about a band, of course there's music), but it's also hilarious in parts. I point you too "Suck," which contains the lyric, "She'll suck you all night long." Which... ew, and ha, in context.

So check it out if you get the chance. And remember, it's a black comedy, you're not supposed to take it seriously. I saw a review somewhere with somebody RANTING about how bad it sucked as a "serious" vampire movie. Said reviewer is obviously either a monkey or one of those trained monkeys they just have type random stuff and hope they get a review out of it. ;)

You know you're a fangirl when any appearance of your favorite media makes you squee like... well, a fangirl. There's a thing about The Millennium Trilogy on CBS This Morning, right now, and I was running around the house telling a bunch of people who really didn't give a shit before I sat down to watch like I'd never heard any of it before.

And of course, I'll be looking for a version online to download later. VIVA SALANDER!
