theantijoss: (Misc - Cure Crohn's)
I know I've ranted about this before, but Womanist Musings just reminded me again. FUCK YOU, INGRID NEWKIRK, YOU FREAKING XENOPHOBIC NUTBAG!

I support the ASPCA and local no-kill shelters, thanks. And hey, guess what? I AM A FAT VEGETARIAN, YOU BITCH!

Man she gets me riled up. LOOK AT THAT BILLBOARD in the article! that just... GRRRR!

~

Sorry I haven't been around for a few days, but I am REALLY not feeling well. Having a sort of minor Crohn's flare up. I suspect it's all the fresh veggies I've been eating lately -- they can be hard to digest. But how am I supposed to resist all that crunchy yummy goodness when it comes right out of my land? Or... tables on my porch, anyway. ;)

Anyhow, so I've just kind of been laid up doing mindless things, like playing with my DRAGONS! And hanging around FAcebook -- there's this game called Farmville there that I'm completely addicted to.

Of course, all this down time means that that I've completely lost track of my [community profile] kink_bingo schedule. I'm STILL hoping maybe I can finish a bingo by the 31st (that's nine stories) -- but so far only 2 are done, a 3rd is at the "climax", so I just can't hold my breath on it getting done. *sigh*

theantijoss: (Misc - I feel stabbity today)
I'm very sad to say this, but I think my involvement in True Blood fandom may not be long for this world. The ship wars are heating up, and I'm sick to fucking DEATH already of "OMG BILL/SOOKEH AND OOH THEY'RE GETTING MARRIED IN REAL LIFE!" And "I'm so glad blah blah blah because I don't like the books/I love the books/I hate the show/I love the show. ERICBILLERICBILLERICBILL." BLARGH.

I did this fucking go round once already, and I'm not doing it again. I honestly could care LESS about Bill or Sookie, actually. If they went away and left the rest of the cast, I'd be perfectly happy. I don't hate the characters, but man am I starting to not like their fans. This whole sensation is so deja vu, I'm thinking about dropping all my True Blood communities before the bs completely ruins the show for me. And there is NOTHING worse than a creator who fucking contradicts himself every other time he talks. Been THERE, done THAT and REALLY not interested in doing it again. I'd prefer what I WANT, not what I NEED when it comes to my entertainment, thanks. Either tell the fucking truth or keep your mouth fucking shut.

I also think I'm going to make a rule at [profile] trueblood_squee, if I decide to keep it open: NO SHIPPING. Period. Unless it's Jessica/Hoyt (because who doesn't love Jessica/Hoyt). And no Bill vs. Eric ANYTHING. I'm fucking sick to death of it already, and we're barely just over halfway through the second season. If you love Bill, GREAT, you can say so WITHOUT BASHING ERIC. Love Eric? AWESOME, you can say THAT without dissing Bill. It's fucking annoying, people, and take it from me, IT RIPS FANDOMS APART AND MAKES IT REALLY HARD TO ENJOY THE SOURCE MATERIAL.

Man, I am tired and cranky today. Which is weird because I slept so well and with full CPAP gear for a good 9 hours. Plus, the fam has gone off for a week's vacation...somewhere that is NOT HERE. So now I'm going to get tired and sick? But of course.

~

I'm going to be TWO [community profile] kink_bingo stories behind if I don't finish the ones I'm working on today. Plus rewrites on the first one. Maybe if I take a nap I can get up and do it after True Blood. I'm still on the lookout for kinky beta readers -- [livejournal.com profile] igrockspock has been a pretty good sport about my Star Trek kinky stories (I have one more planned), but I can't really ask her to read kink from other fandoms! So here are the kinks and fandom/pairings planned. If you're interested in beta-ing one or more, let me know.Read more... )

Speaking of fic, I've been slowly putting all of my fic up at Archive of Our Own, if you want to check it out and see what's there so far. And please feel free to send feedback to the programming committee if there's something you'd find easier to use -- they're definitely taking suggestions seriously while still in closed beta!

~

I'm just too pissy tonight for anything else. I only got to watch about 20 minutes of True Blood, and even that annoyed me. I'm going to watch some LotS or maybe Dexter and then just go to bed and FUCK THIS DAY.

Look at my cute new baby dragons!

PORN!

theantijoss: (Star Trek - Gaila Likes to Try New Thing)
That got your attention, huh? *G*

You know, I've mentioned a few times lately how much I LOVE the new Star Trek movie -- obviously, or I wouldn't be dipping my foot into the fandom. I've watched my downloaded cam copy a dozen times, and I've loved it more and more each time. I have the release date of the DVD marked on my calendar.

Right now I'm reading the novelization, and I love THAT even more -- more story, more insight into the characters. I know it's not necessarily canon, but MAN. I need to get a hold of this in paperback, because it's one of those books I want to own, physically, you know? I want to have it on my bulging bookshelf and be able to pull it out and leaf through the pages. The writing isn't fantastic, but it adds so much RICHNESS to the story I already love.

If you're interested: Star Trek Movie Tie-In by Alan Dean Foster

Plus, if you like Kirk/McCoy, you'll love it. Their interactions are the best.

~

Hey, speaking of Star Trek -- WRITING ALIEN PORN IS REALLY DIFFICULT! I mean... what do you call the parts? It's hard enough when you know exactly what they are and the various things they can be called! What if your porn star is not human? I've already established some physiological differences that are helpful rather than hindering, but... I'm still stuck in a couple of places.

... Later...

Okay, I just sort of winged it through, and... MY FIRST KINK FIC IS DONE! Well, the first draft is done, anyway. I'm always nervous writing in a new fandom, ESPECIALLY this one. ESPECIALLY ESPECIALLY with a species that we don't really know that much about, physiologically. It will need a bit more work, but if anyone is interested in giving it a once over beta, I would be thrilled. It's Star Trek 2009, Gaila/Kirk, NC-17, mildly kinky (the kink is suspension), I guess, I don't know... there's zero gravity involved (WHICH I RESEARCHED!). Any takers? I'll be closing it up for tonight and taking another look tomorrow, but if you want a glance at the first draft to give me some notes, that would be awesome.

I'm still on schedule so far for [community profile] kink_bingo! Hmmmm. What should I work on next? I should probably go on with my next Gaila fic, since I'm already running in that direction anyway. *G* What a hardship.

HAHAHAHA! This just in from KTNZ News!

Memorable Book Meme hoinked from the awesome [profile] bradeatspeeps!

Here are the rules:

Don't take too long to think about it. 15 books you've read that will always stick with you. They don't have to be the greatest books you've ever read, just the ones that stick with you. First 15 you can recall in no more than 15 minutes. Copy these instructions and tag 15 friends, including me--because I'm interested in seeing what books are in your head.

DRAGONS!

Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today!
theantijoss: (Star Trek - Gaila Grins)
Okay, guys. It's August 1. I'm looking at my commitments and buckling down for some serious writing.

The big one on my mind right now is [community profile] kink_bingo -- bingos are due by August 31. I have THIRTY days to finish a bingo. I have a 9 story bingo planned, plus a 5 story double line and a one story postage stamp. That's FIFTEEN kinky stories in thirty days. That means TWO kinky stories a day, minimum 500 words each.

Think I can do it? I mean, I know I can write 500 words a day, but can I write 500 words a day that anyone will want to READ? (You would ask this question too if you saw my NaNo manuscript from last year.)

What I would love to do (after I finish bingos within the alloted time) is do black-outs (all the kinks on the card) for Gaila and B/A. Wouldn't it be fun to see if I could get 25 kinky B/A stories? I'll never have time for it, but a girl can dream.

ANYWAY... FIFTEEN Stories. THIRTY days. That is my challenge. It would, unfortunately, make a very, very boring reality show.

~

Hahahaha. Speaking of [community profile] kink_bingo, I downloaded one of the soundtracks they offered, and I'm right now listening to the AWESOME Dr. Hook's "Freaking at the Freaker's Ball". I fucking LOVE this song. So does my dad -- he's a huge Dr. Hook fan. He used to play this song when I was a KID. I mean, I didn't know what it meant, but there I was, 9 years old, singing about masochists and necrophiliacs and smearing someone with butter. LOL. No wonder I'm so weird!

~

Watching the first episode of The Legend of the Seeker. I've read the first four or five of the books, and I have to say, the series is a LOT easier to follow. LOL. I love the books, but man are they dense and complicated. This show is more like... Wizard's First Rule meets Hercules: The Legendary Journies. I'm okay with that. One thing they have in common? Kahlan is BAD ASS.

Okay, back to work. Gaila and Kirk are waiting. *G*

~

DRAGONS! Look, the new one looks kind of like a half lizard, half kitty!

Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today!
theantijoss: (Adam - Rock n Roll Tongue)
Sung to the tune of Frosty the Snowman, of course. So that would make it... Duckie the Hump Fen? Heh.

~

Okay, the sentiment is disturbing, but the cat is hilarious!

LOLCats

Speaking of LOLCats, I'm completely addicted to http://speaklolspeak.com -- it's like a special home for LOLAddicts.

Like this: A Day in the Life of a Cat vs. a Dog )

Hahahahahhahahaha. I am so easily amused.

~

I am also easily distracted. You know what I spent most of yesterday doing? Alternating between reading the LOLCat Bible and the Adam Lambert Appreciation Thread @ [livejournal.com profile] ontd_ai, which breaks the freaking internetz every five minutes. It's insane fan time over there, ya'll -- there's sparkly penises and Lambert macros all over the place. It's madness! ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY NINE PAGES of comments at last count. (Um, make that 147 157.)

THE LINK IS NSFW! Sparkly peen and giant foul words abound!

~

I've had two movie passes sitting around for almost a year -- they're still good for another year, but there are so few movies I think are worth the trouble of a theater. And I mean VERY few. In fact, I prefer watching most things on DVD in the comfort of my own home, with my own food, in my own jammies or whatever. But I am DYING to see that new Gerry Butler rom-com... even though I'm sort of meh on Katherine Heigel, and the rom-com genre died a long time ago, I LOVE GERRY THAT MUCH MORE. I thought maybe I could make an afternoon of it -- go see HP at the first matinee, and then go see the Gerry movie after.

But ugh, the idea of spending that much time in a movie theater does not make for a happy Duckie. I really want to see HP in the theater -- I always do -- but the chairs are uncomfortable, and bringing your own food is like sneaking weed on an airplane flying out of Jamaica bringing your nail clippers on a plane. And I am NOT spending $20 (which I don't have anyway) for a cup of crappy popcorn and flat soda.

Oh, the dilemma! I mean, I do have passes... and I don't HAVE to have snacks...

DON'T MISS the Home Team 2009 Awesomest Female Character Matches! Make sure to vote for Buffy! CLICK HERE FOR HER THREAD -- this is just the nomination round, so stay tuned for more! I actually nominated a few characters (Bette Porter, Aeryn Sun, Rachel Morgan, Eve Dallas) and voted heartily for a bunch of others besides our B. Please check it out. As much as I love Adam and think he is totally the HBIC? He really shouldn't win a contest meant to find the most popular FEMALE.

~

So... I signed up for [community profile] kink_bingo. You guys know I'm so vanilla except for some bloodplay and D/s Bondage fun, so this is REALLY reaching outside my comfort zone. I'm going to TRY for a blackout -- that is, writing a 500 word story for all 25 kinks, but... there are a few on there that are kinda squicky to me. (Hello watersports. *shudder* I'm so sorry to anybody who enjoys it -- this isn't a judgment, it's just not MY kink. They always say, one woman's kink is another woman's squick and vice versa!)

Then again, there are a few that don't squick me, but that I don't really get, you know? One in particular is humiliation. I'm reading about it, read a couple of fics about it, and I think I get some of the psychology of it, but as it's not my kink, I can't really be sure. I don't know. Anyone who can give some insight, email me on the DL ducksfanfic at gmail dot com. I won't share your name.

Anyway, when I start writing the stories, I'll put up a post with my bingo card so you can follow along if you're so inclined. *G* Meanwhile, I have to get back to my Kradam fic, as that's coming up soon! Although first I need to finish my TB commentary -- I just watched the episode again, and it was SO GOOD. Man, if you love vampires and you haven't checked out this show, you really, really need to.

Please click mah bb's. (Yeah, I've just given in to the stupidity Life is easier that way.)
