So much to share today. It's nice to feel like all my work is generating something! W00t!

1. All the storms lately are a reminder that we need to be prepared, not just for our human families, but for our furry and feathered friends too! Disaster Preparation For Your Pets gives you a guide on how to get your animal babies ready for any emergency!

2. Winter, spring, summer or fall, it's any season for the crazy-making pain and pressure of sinusitis! Learn some simple ways to ease the misery: How to Get Relief For Sinusitus.

3. Magic is a fun literary theme. It's role in A Midummer Night's Dream is multilayered and interesting! Literary Themes: Magic in A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare.

4. More Shakespeare? And I'm not even a fan! But you know how I love to analyze female characters in literature... How about a Character Analysis: Cordelia in King Lear by William Shakespeare.

And finally...

5. Have you ever wondered how the idea of the government helping care for the elderly, sick, and poor came to be? Well, we can all thank Queen Elizabeth (sort of): How the Government Helped the Poor in Elizabethan England.

There should be a little something for a lot of tastes today! :)

I don't think Lady Rowena gets enough love in literary scholarship. She's an interesting character. Character analysis: Lady Rowena in Ivanhoe, by Sir Walter Scott

It's time for richer fall soups. This one is a yummy addition to any meal, but works particularly well for Thanksgiving! Recipes: Creamy sweet potato soup

But mushrooms are delicious too. Recipes: Wild Mushroom Soup -- yum.

Hope everyone had a good holiday and is recovering okay from all the terrible weather!

One of the great debates in mythology: Was Queen Clytemnestra of Mycenae an adulterous, murderous harpy, or a righteous angry woman avenging the murder of her daughter? I examine this two thousand year old issue a little bit in Character Analysis: Clytemnestra in Electra by Sophocles.

Are you a procrastinator? I sure am. That bad habit shows itself a lot when I'm writing on a deadline! But it's worst in college, when you have deadlines all over the place. Check out Strategies to avoid procrastinating on college term papers.

I also changed the format of my freelance links page. It was getting to the point that one long list of articles by publish date was making it difficult to find anything, so I set up a nice grid showing articles by topic area. Take a look, if you like: http://hafowler.host56.com/articles.htm.

You know, I keep saying that Sunday is going to be my day off, but I either have a deadline, or I just automatically start working without thinking about it. Is that good or bad? I suppose it's good for my career, not so good for my brain... fingers... shoulders...wrists... etc.

I just love it so much!

First fiction I've finished in quite a while. It's a 500 word short about what happens when two lovers of rival species meet again after 25 years. Will it be sweet, or will fangs and fur fly?

Two Sets of Fangs and a Cuppa Joe

Feedback is always appreciated!

Nobody like to think about shots, but if we want our fuzzy feline friends (say that ten times fast) to live a long, healthy life, we have to keep track of their vaccinations. "Recommended Vaccinations for Adult Cats" can be a guide on where to start if you didn't get your cat as a kitten.

A little bit more fun is "Common Instinctive Behavior in Dogs". Why do our dog buddies do some of the things they do? And what can we do about it, because, let's face it, some of those things are really annoying.

Please check out the articles, and as usual, any comments or feedback are welcome!

This one was interesting: The Effect of the Napoleonic Code on Women's Rights. Now, I was a Women's Studies minor in college, but our focus was generally on American feminism. I never learned about the struggles of early French feminists during the Revolution, or spitfire Revolutionary Olympe de Gouges (who unfortunately met the same fate as so many others in that time -- the guillotine.) Keep an eye out for another article on her!

Some of you may not know that I was born and raised on the SE Connecticut shore. It was funny -- writing Travel Guide: Southeastern Connecticut made me homesick! Although I've never been back with the casinos dominating the area, I hear it's changed a lot of things completely. I remember when it was all rural out where I lived in Ledyard. Now it's like Las Vegas had a baby there! LOL

Anyway, I tried to emphasize a lot of other things I remember from my youth. There's so much to do there outside the casinos, that I couldn't even cover a portion of it in my 1500 word limit!

Please "Like" for FB, and share with the little buttons at the bottom of the page if you like them. The more views, the better, as usual! :)

Stuff going on here at home, with health, blah blah blah. To make up for it, here is a very determined cat. (Who, coincidentally, looks a great deal like my late baby Shaquille! He had the same beautiful pattern on his coat.)

It's more important than ever that we speak our minds. Unless you're a conservative right wing Republican (or Tea Bagger), of course, then you should just take a nice nap. Actually, if you're one of those Tea Bag freaks, you might think about taking a long jump off a short pier, as they say in New England. We don't need your bigoted shit right now on top of everything else.

Seriously, whatever your beliefs, make sure your voice is as heard as it can be in our broken system, and cast your vote. *ehem*Especially progressives*ehem*

I only wish there was a line we could choose that said, "Stop being a bunch of assholes sitting around jerking each other off and GET SOME SHIT DONE." And that goes to BOTH SIDES. *sigh*

This turned out very amusing on [livejournal.com profile] woman_of_'s journal, so I'm going to try it. Anybody who's bored today, help me out!

1)Make a list of fifteen characters first, and keep it to yourself for the moment.

2)Ask your flist to post questions in the comments. For example: 'One, nine and fifteen are chosen by a prophecy to save the world from four. Do they succeed?', 'Under what circumstances might five and fourteen fall in love?', 'Which character on the list would you most want on your side in a zombie invasion?'

3) After your flist has asked enough questions, round them up and answer them using the fifteen characters you selected beforehand, then post them.

Get to it, kids! ;)
