theantijoss: (Bad Girls)
I want to post stuff, but I don't really have much to say! I mean, some of my shows have started, and True Blood ended, but all I have to comment about those right now are things like: "OMG!" and "Ooh!" "It was great!" "It was meh!" Etc.

Sons of Anarchy - Gonna get hairier, but I don't have any real comments yet. Beyond Jax being freaking hot.
Gossip Girl - Read more... )
Terriers - I love Donal Logue. He's all scruffy and down on his luck. That's all I need to know. I fear it's not long for this world, but so far I like it.
Vampire Diaries - W00t! W00t! Somerhalder never stops getting sexier. Is he just going to burst into flames someday, ring or no? It's on, folks!

I feel like there's stuff I'm forgetting, but I know it's early in the season yet. I am happy to announce that I seem to be over my summer reality disease for the most part (some of the terrible symptoms include wondering who are the worst examples of people from New Jersey: the Shore skanks, or the Psycho Hag Housewives). I'm watching Master Chef tonight, but I don't really care about, say, Herpes Pad (I mean "Bachelor Pad") or any of the other crap I couldn't stop myself from watching while nothing else was on. I mean, my sub-basic cable even lose MTV2! Which was, like, the coolest channel I used to get.

Currently, I'm watching The Wire for the first time. I just finished the first season, and I'm really enjoying it. Also liked the first season of Rizzoli & Isles -- does anybody know if it got renewed for next year, because as much as I love the characters, I fear the format getting dusty kind of quickly. BUT THAT CLIFFHANGER! UGH! I hate those. I MUST KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!

As far as True Blood goes... I really need to re-watch the last few episodes before I can comment. Do I still need to do spoiler cuts? I will just in case. )

What are your thoughts on your viewing season thus far?

I let my paid LJ account lapse, as I just can't afford to pay for a journal right now. So THAT means cutting my icons down to SIX OMG. I have no idea what I'm going to do about that.
theantijoss: (True Blood - Eric Serious)
I enjoy Facebook for a number of reasons -- the primary one that I get to interact with old friends and family members who I might lose track of otherwise. The downside is that I sometimes have to interact with people I never would have interacted with otherwise, and every once in a while someone from my past tries to embroil me in drama. Oh, and if I'm not careful, I'm treated to a detailed blow-by-blow of the LOML and his blissful domestic existence. *gag*

So I got a note this morning from one of my best friends EVER, telling me that she's actually being... I don't know if there's a grown-up word for it! Read more... )

This is going to sound ironic, coming from the basement dwelling, vampire-loving internet geek loser, but GROW THE FUCK UP, PEOPLE. Seriously. We are FORTY YEARS OLD.

Boggles my mind, it seriously does. I'd much rather be lost in my fantasy worlds, thanks very much.

~

OH NO! This just breaks my heart. RIP Little Dusky. He was being hand raised from birth, bottle and tube fed, slept in an oxygen chamber, but it seemed like he was getting better. I've been following the story closely, daily updates, and to hear he finally passed away is just... So, so sad. *hugs kitties* I feel like one of my own died -- I was really rooting for this little fella.

Wow. Heavy stuff on True Blood tonight! For discussion, stop by [profile] trueblood_squee! I missed a lot of it due to my various sources crapping out, but I got to see the Big Scenes!

theantijoss: (Misc - I feel stabbity today)
I'm very sad to say this, but I think my involvement in True Blood fandom may not be long for this world. The ship wars are heating up, and I'm sick to fucking DEATH already of "OMG BILL/SOOKEH AND OOH THEY'RE GETTING MARRIED IN REAL LIFE!" And "I'm so glad blah blah blah because I don't like the books/I love the books/I hate the show/I love the show. ERICBILLERICBILLERICBILL." BLARGH.

I did this fucking go round once already, and I'm not doing it again. I honestly could care LESS about Bill or Sookie, actually. If they went away and left the rest of the cast, I'd be perfectly happy. I don't hate the characters, but man am I starting to not like their fans. This whole sensation is so deja vu, I'm thinking about dropping all my True Blood communities before the bs completely ruins the show for me. And there is NOTHING worse than a creator who fucking contradicts himself every other time he talks. Been THERE, done THAT and REALLY not interested in doing it again. I'd prefer what I WANT, not what I NEED when it comes to my entertainment, thanks. Either tell the fucking truth or keep your mouth fucking shut.

I also think I'm going to make a rule at [profile] trueblood_squee, if I decide to keep it open: NO SHIPPING. Period. Unless it's Jessica/Hoyt (because who doesn't love Jessica/Hoyt). And no Bill vs. Eric ANYTHING. I'm fucking sick to death of it already, and we're barely just over halfway through the second season. If you love Bill, GREAT, you can say so WITHOUT BASHING ERIC. Love Eric? AWESOME, you can say THAT without dissing Bill. It's fucking annoying, people, and take it from me, IT RIPS FANDOMS APART AND MAKES IT REALLY HARD TO ENJOY THE SOURCE MATERIAL.

Man, I am tired and cranky today. Which is weird because I slept so well and with full CPAP gear for a good 9 hours. Plus, the fam has gone off for a week's vacation...somewhere that is NOT HERE. So now I'm going to get tired and sick? But of course.

~

I'm going to be TWO [community profile] kink_bingo stories behind if I don't finish the ones I'm working on today. Plus rewrites on the first one. Maybe if I take a nap I can get up and do it after True Blood. I'm still on the lookout for kinky beta readers -- [livejournal.com profile] igrockspock has been a pretty good sport about my Star Trek kinky stories (I have one more planned), but I can't really ask her to read kink from other fandoms! So here are the kinks and fandom/pairings planned. If you're interested in beta-ing one or more, let me know.Read more... )

Speaking of fic, I've been slowly putting all of my fic up at Archive of Our Own, if you want to check it out and see what's there so far. And please feel free to send feedback to the programming committee if there's something you'd find easier to use -- they're definitely taking suggestions seriously while still in closed beta!

I'm just too pissy tonight for anything else. I only got to watch about 20 minutes of True Blood, and even that annoyed me. I'm going to watch some LotS or maybe Dexter and then just go to bed and FUCK THIS DAY.

LJ's Question of the Day: From Dr. Polidori's Lord Ruthven to Stephenie Meyer's Edward Cullen, the annals of vampire lore are filled with attractive, charming bloodsuckers. Which one would you most want to be bitten by?

Okay, everybody knows that one. Actually, I've made a few new friends lately *waves to new friends*, so how about a newly revised TOP TEN HOT VAMPIRES WHO DUCKS WOULD LIKE TO BANG WOULDN'T MIND BEING BITTEN BY?Read more... )

Seriously, I could go on and on and on forever without ever including a Twilight vampire. The father Cullen is kind of cute, but... the fact that nobody in that town ever notices how FREAKING WHITE he is just... throws me out of the fantasy. Oh, and I could make a top ten list of Sherrilyn Kenyon vampires alone, even though they're not really "vampires" per se (but they totally are).

Okay, I'm going to have to do a Top 20, I think. 11-20 Vampires that can bite me. *G* )

Man, I loves me some vampires.

I am SO happy! I was laboring and laboring and TORTURING myself trying to get my Kris Allen/Alan Lambert RPF done for today, which originally was supposed to be the last day to post. Is the New York Daily News Crazy, stupid or both? Their headline reads: "Do you think Hermione and Ron are a good match?"

WHAT ARE YOU DOING? Don't you know that's like giving the nuclear launch codes to the BAT SHIT CRAZIEST PEOPLE IN THE HISTORY OF FANDOM? (And that's saying something, sister.) Don't you know they will KILL YOU? They will eat your children and dress your dog up like Harry or Ron, whoever's their favorite, and then put on shadow puppet shows demonstrating why their ship is the best and the OTHER ONE IS OF SATAN.

Srsly, New York Daily News, you might want to rethink that headline.

Hahahahaha. I swear, not seconds after I finished typing that, the headline changed to something else on Google News. LOL. I wonder if their server crashed with THOUSANDS OF TINHATS posting their insane TL;DR screeds on the joys/horrors of H/R at the same time.

* Disclaimer: This is not to say, of course, that ALL HP shippers are nutbag tinhat weirdo, dog-dressing, baby-eating freaks. I know there are at least six or seven of you who are perfectly sane and look at the whole thing like, 0_o right along with the rest of us.

~

Remember how I was raving about my Yummy Salad yesterday? Yeah, there's another reason besides cost that keeps me from eating a lot of uncooked fresh veg. MY GUT IS KILLING ME. I can't remember why fresh veggies are hard for me to digest (because of my Crohn's), I know I read it somewhere, but I forgot. I LOVE fresh veggies, and it makes me angry that they cause me PAIN. It's not the veggies' fault, of course, Veggies are wonderful, even if the lettuce comes from Goddess knows where and has been packed in a bag for however long, and was probably sprayed with poisons, genetically enhanced, and packed by migrant workers making $.05 a day.

OH GOD NO WONDER MY GUT HURTS. IT'S ENVIRONMENTAL/SOCIAL GUILT. *flails*

~

Okay, I've been really good about keeping my mouth shut about all things Michael Jackson related out of respect for close friends of mine who were huge fans and are really hurting. But I just had to say that "his" daughter is BEAUTIFUL. Srsly!

And speaking of celebrity children -- Thank the gods Baby! Jr. grew into his head. DAMN that kid is HUGE! He's going to be like, nine feet tall!

~

Awww. This makes me so happy!

(find the meme here)

It's like, a whole new generation of fans! I hesitate to take part because I'm such an old, grizzled, bitter vet and I never want to squash a new fan's squee. But it makes me so nostalgic for the old days! I mean... the good part of the old days. ;)

Just for the record, the ugly starts creeping in just like the old days too. Someone mentions there's not enough Spuffy, and then suddenly 20 Spuffies show up and diss B/A (and vice versa). *sigh* The more things... well, don't change at all, never mind.

~

After the above reminded me how much I hate shipping wars, I hesitate to even do this, because I completely see True Blood going down the exact same ridiculous path. *sigh* But Oh well -- vote for who you think Sookie should be with. Go ahead, stuff the balot box, post the link to every community you belong to, say nasty things about the people who don't like your guy/ship, spread rumors about how they cheat and steal and eat babies and kick puppies and got you fired or whatever. Send some hate mail, make a closed community so you can talk shit and not get called on it. Just... go ahead. Because we can't possibly just be positive about one thing without trying to destroy something else.

No such thing as a good natured rivalry or a peaceful difference of opinion in fandom. Everything we do has to be completely over the top and batshit. Whatev.

Ugh.

~

Okay, Merlin cheered me up, and gave me some time to remember that I have built up my own little corner of fandom where everybody pretty much gets along, or shuts up if they don't, and that's okay. I love my Spuffy friends, they love me, it's all good. Even if/when the True Blood ship wars do break out in truth, I'll be able to go over here ([livejournal.com profile] trueblood_squee) and plug my ears and go LALALALALALALALA along with others who want to do the same. *G*

TRUE BLOOD LATER WHEEEEEE! Actually, people are just about to start watching it RIGHT NOW. I'm so jealous. *sigh*

So... I'm still trying to get a female. I'm building a collection of pretty dragons, though! Look, twins! I had to separate them so we wouldn't get confused. Please pet my pretty new red egg, and let's see what we've got here. :D

The dates for this year's International Blog Against Racism Week [community profile] ibarw are July 27 - August 2. I'm definitely going to have a post for it (at least one) -- this year has been a real struggle for me trying to come to terms with and try to change how I deal with my own privilege, and check my unconscious racism.

I know it's not about me. But you know what? Sometimes, for white people, it IS. It's about you and your place in the world, the way you contribute to or fight against oppression and bigotry. You have to look inside yourself and make changes within as much as without. It's as important for yourself as a whole, healthy, loving human being as it is for the people who ultimately benefit from your changes.

Just mho.

~

WOW! True Blood ratings were phenomenal for a cable show! And this doesn't even count people like me who watch it online or download it because they don't or can't get HBO! W00t!

I've seen a few people complaining, but I've long since learned my lesson about that -- I ignore them! *G* Am I an Eric/Sookie fan and a proud member of Team Eric? Yes. Do I therefore think that there's something inherently wrong with Bill/Sookie shippers and Team Bill or Team Sam people? NO. And I'm staying SIX BILLION MILES AWAY from the brewing shipper wars.

I can smell them that far away, you know. It starts with little barely veiled jabs at the male character you don't like as much, or off the cuff negative things abou tthe other pairing. That's when I click "BACK" and RUN!

Ooh! You know what I'm should do? START A SQUEE COMMUNITY like [profile] spn_woohoo! No negativity allowed!

An interesting conversation about the Obama administrations OFFENSIVE defense (oxymoron?) of DOMA between two people I really admire:

There are a lot of things going on in the world right now, but Obama needs to say something SOON to distance himself from this anti-LGBTQ garbage, or he's going to lose what little credibility he has left in the gay community.

I just... bleurg.

Speaking of objectifying women and rape culture...

There's a fascinating -- and really, really disturbing -- conversation going on at [livejournal.com profile] cereta's site right now about rape, rape culture, and men's responsibility in the matter. It's so weird (and not in the best way) in the years since I've been out of college and the Women's Studies program, I've become much more deeply involved in gay rights than women's rights specifically (even though the two are inexorably intertwined). It's been a while since I thought about this issue. Anyway, I highly recommend this food for thought.

This just... really moved me. And frightened me, and made me think about the kind of world we're living in, and how many of my friends and neighbors face deadly bigotry every day of their lives. This reminds me what privilege is REALLY about -- that I don't have to worry about that kind of violence. For all that I experience discrimination because I'm queer-ish or poor or fat or suffer from chronic illness, chances are good that nobody will ever try to kill me for these things. They're not right there on the surface, or they don't engender violence the way other kinds of bigotry do.

RIP Stephen Tyrone Johns, hero.

The other day I expressed my fear about going to the UU church in town because one whackjob decided just such a church would be a great place to shoot Liberals. That incident was the first time since 9/11 that I really thought, "Holy shit! Somebody could try to kill me because I go to a liberal church!" A fear that a lot of my friends and neighbors have to worry about ALL THE TIME. And reading this NPR article made me feel even more strongly that I CAN'T let that fear stop me. For the sake of all my friends who suffer REAL discrimination and bigotry, we HAVE to stand up and not allow fear to control us. It's cliche but, we cannot let them win!

So if I don't go to church in the next couple of weeks, it'll be because I'm lazy or tired or sick, NOT because I'm scared of the batshite rednecks running around with rifles who want to kill me for being liberal!

And my brain immediately goes, "I wonder if I have anything appropriate to wear to church." LOL I'm so adaptable... or possibly emotionally scattered, or both. *G* I think pretty much everything I own that's not shorts or sweats is black. Hm. It's been a while since I had to look decent going out. LOL.

~

Congrats to the great Sir Christopher Lee on his Knighthood. It's about freakin' time, considering some of the fools who've been given the honor in recent years!
theantijoss: (Python - Completely Different)
The always wonderful and articulate [personal profile] liz_marcs has a post about Domestic Terrorism, and WHY aren't these terrorists being treated as such?

This, borrowed from my friend [profile] kita0610 makes it all feel so much more personal. I get increasingly horrified -- like these atrocities aren't horrifying enough -- that these vicious, bloothirsty, hate-mongering TERRORIST murderers are attacking people in what should be SAFE, SACRED places. Churches. Museums. You know, I had given some though to joining our local UU church, as they are usually welcoming of people from all faiths, and I thought I could use the community, the interaction with other people outside of the medical profession and fandom.

But after the shooting last year in a UU church in Tennessee made me rethink that. I don't know how to respond to this kind of violence. It makes me not want to leave the house at all, sometimes. Who knows what the next target could be? But how can we stop living our lives, which only allows these monsters to determine what we do, where we worship?

I just don't know.

~

TV Guide's 100 Greatest Episodes of All Time include #14: "Once More With Feeling," and #78: "I WILL REMEMBER YOU!" (Plus #95: Supernatural's Season 3 Finale, "No Rest For the Wicked" -- there are TOTALLY better episodes than that.)

Just an interesting tidbit stolen from [livejournal.com profile] killerweasel. I'm all muddled today, so I don't really have much more to say about that besides, "Whee!" and "Who makes this list?" I haven't read the rest yet, so I don't know if there are others I want to comment on.

~

Wow, could I BE anymore boring today? I finally ran my errands, took my pill, so my mind is less fuzzy, and still... I find I have nothing much to say. Funny how I can make an entire LJ post about having nothing to say, isn't it? I just like to type sometimes, I guess. Although it seems a bit like muttering to myself. Hey, I do that too, so why not?

Seriously. The only difference between Adam Lambert now that he's on the Cover of Rolling Stone (*SQUEE*) and before is that he's said what are apparently the magic words : "I'm gay."

I wasn't aware you had to officially make an announcement about your sexuality before you got to carry Teh Ofishul Ghey Card.

But YAY, honey pie signed a record contract with RCA, and that Rolling Stone cover is the hottest thing since Baby! in the Bathtub! Gah.

My favorite quote: "I loved it this season when girls went crazy for me. As far as I'm concerned, it's all hot. Just because I'm not sticking it in there doesn't mean that I don't find it beautiful."

HA!

I've seen people talking about how "disappointed" they are that Adam let a 'shroom trip lead him to Idol. (One of the quotes I didn't mention here.) Hell, the only thing I ever did shrooming was curl up on the ground and laugh/cry until I passed out. So good on him for putting a trip to productive use! *G*

Tonight's viewing includes La Mala Educacion or as us Gringos call it, Bad Education -- it's a thriller that has such a twisty plot that it's hard to explain in a line or two, but there are nasty priests, sexy gay guys, and blackmail involved. In Spanish. I need to figure out where I know the lead actor from. His name is Gael GarcĂa Bernal (she said as she imdb-ed him), he was in Babel and Motorcycle Diaries -- neither of which I've seen, so those can't be what I'm thinking of... AH! I'm With Lucy -- the one where Baby! plays a dickhead doctor. Gael played one of the other lovers. AND he was in Y tu mama tambien, which I saw a few years ago, and was HAWT. Okay, now I feel better. LOL

How are you guys today?
theantijoss: (Gay Agenda OH NOES!)
Mr. Obama, you rock. Now if only you would change your mind on the marriage equality issue (and a few other things -- I'm really concerned about the various privacy and spying issues that are still Status Quo from the fascist Bush regime. And seemingly getting worse.)

What is Pride?

If, like me, you're stuck in a place with no Pride -- well, not that there's no Queer Pride here, just that there's no big parade. The community is fairly insular, and for perfectly understandable -- though sad -- reasons. I always endeavor to be a good ally, and you know LGBT issues are my biggest political "thing", but I want to spend this month appreciating the contributions and tribulations of the gay community by appreciating its art!

Glaad, for example, has Pride TV a list of LGBT programming on Television.

The Logo Network (imagine, five years ago there WAS no LGBT network!) lists their top 10 Gay Movies You Have to See! Here's the list, if you don't feel like watching the video... )

I'm going to hunt a few of those down myself -- starting with But I'm a Cheerleader!

Music: Okay, first, I found this link, which is MUSIC YOU SHOULD BAN FROM YOUR HOME IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR CHILDREN TO TURN GAY! Which, to me, means acts that I should probably try harder to support. I don't know if this is a joke or not, but the Jonas Brothers are on there as a "Gateway Band". Man, am I glad I'm not a Christian. I would hate to have to keep decrying the asshats that make my side look bad. *patently ignores the odder of the naked tree dancing Pagans with names like Sir DragonDancer and Lady NutFaery* He also lists the Dresden Dolls as a "safe" band, along with Cheap Trick and Evanescence? o_O

On a more legit note, check out OutVoice.net, home of the LGBT Musicians Top 40 list. I've been a freak for Indigo Girls music for YEARS, and though I've lost interest in her most recent work, Melissa Etheridge as well.

Don't forget, our own fannish communities are full of wonderful queer writers, artists, philosophers and other characters, and lots of GAY PORN! *G*

Let's celebrate PRIDE!

RIP David Eddings.

Because of Twilight fame, Quileute Tribe hires a publicist.

I'm not sure how I feel about that. I mean, good for them for hiring someone to help with this, because the series makes soup out of Quileute tradition, right along with playing on the old Native = Animal trope. But still, it makes me uncomfortable that they should HAVE to do that. I don't know.

Extended Vampire Diaries Trailer:

Um... I'm less sure about this now, but... I'll give it a chance. The mantra, "At least it's not Twilight!" goes a long way with me.

Five Reasons the so-called "Buffy" re-boot Won't Work

Here, I have five for you:

1.) No SMG
2.) No DB
3.) No Scoobies/Giles
4.) No Big Bad of the Season
5.) No Joss (I can't believe I just typed that, but there it is)

Several of these are covered in the article. With his other ones, we could make ten. I'm sure all of us together (fandom-wise) could make a list of HUNDREDS.

NO, Kuzui's, NO! Go find something else you're only nominally a part of and gut THAT.

Cheney Backs Gay Marriage

He's still Satan. He's just a slightly less homophobic Satan. It's typical of the right, actually. He only feels like this because his daughter is gay. I remember my mother telling me a lot of stories about when she was coming of age in the 60's, rich women could always get abortions, even though they were illegal. Hypocrisy, they name is self-righteous right wingers!

I don't think basic human civil rights should be a state by state issue, personally.

Now this "re-booting" shit is just getting ridiculous. WRITE SOMETHING ORIGINAL, HOLLYWOOD.

I've decided to give PORN BATTLE VIII a shot. I haven't written anything in YEARS, but I can do 2500 words as long as nothing horrible happens between now and June 15 *knocks on wood*. I think I'd like to try a new fandom, AND maybe something Buffy/Angel-verse. We'll see.

If you want to see something B/A (or whatever *G*) from me, go over there and comment -- you can do it anonymously if you want. I'm willing to write PORN! in the following fandoms/pairings:

Buffyverse:

B/A (duh)
B/F
B/A/F
A/S
F/S
Frillow

Being Human: I'll try anything, but it will go better for you if it involves Mitchell. *G* I'm fond of Mitchell/Annie, myself.
SPN: Dean/Castiel
Merlin: Merlin/Arthur, Arthur/Lancelot, Morgana/Gwen
True Blood: Eric/Sookie, Sookie/Tara, Sookie/Pam, Pam/Eric/Sookie
HP: Remus/Sirius

I dunno, try me on something and maybe I'll give it a shot. *G* I get to choose whatever prompts I want to write.

What is "Biblical Marriage?"

Okay, I'm off to watch the Glee pilot again, because I wasn't watching it closely the first time, and all the SQUEE makes me feel like I missed something. :D

I hope everybody had the most FABULOUS day they could possibly have!
theantijoss: (True Blood - Hot Eric Fang)
Oh dear TV Gods help me. I just realized that I love watching Power Rangers RPM on Saturday afternoons. It has nothing to do with the fact that the black ranger is hot and the blue ranger is Scottish and adorable. Shut up.

Jail Bait Ranger, ACTIVATE!

My only questions... so far... are 1.) Why is there only one female Ranger, and 2.) Why do they make her wear a little skirt with her spandex outfit? I mean, it's okay to see the outline of the fellas' business, but not hers? Boo, Rangers! Boo!

I can't believe I just typed that entire section. *sigh* I need to go watch some dirty adult entertainment after that. Oooh! True Blood maybe. Speaking of...

OMG ONLY TWO WEEKS TO GO! *spazzes*

I need to rethink my Dreamwidth icons, since there are so few. *sniff* I tried to upload the same major ones here as at LJ, but the problem with that is, I don't comment nearly as much here at DW. The primary use of icons here is for posting. Now, the issue quickly arises that I need to try to keep the same icons at DW as LJ so when I cross post, they both have the same icon. You can see my problem, can't you?

I AM ADDICTED TO ICONS.

Am I the only person in the universe that doesn't like... no, wait... CAN'T STAND Lady Gaga? All I hear is how awesome and "out of the box" she is, and I'm all... GODDESS PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!

There's a new video starring my darling Alexander Skarsgard (Eric from True Blood) that's pretty damn hot in the beginning, but I can only watch it with the sound off. I mean, I loved electro-pop in the 80's (to some degree, anyway), but something about this chick just... bugs me. Is it that she almost seems like a bad Human League or Debbie Harry rip off? I dunno. Anyway, feel free to mute the sound to see Alex in all his hotness.

Oh, a couple of things I wanted to mention: 1.) I started a total Adam Lambert Fangirl LJ, so my squeeing wouldn't get TOO annoying around here. Right now it's mostly a repository for favorite pics, videos, and rants about how stupid people are about sexuality, but if you've got squee, feel free to friend: [profile] lambert_ducks. If we're not on familiar terms, just post some squee in the public post. *G* 2.) I've got a sticky post at the top of my LJ listing the movies I'm watching this year, categorized as "General" and "Horrorwatch/fest '09". Updates to that don't show up on my FL, so if you care, have a look. I'm not really reviewing the films any more than I would here -- a few words of squee, eeek or ew.

Speaking sort of tangentially about Adam, he said in some interview that he's gotten hooked on this particular brand of eyeliner since he's been on American Idol, since that's what they use there (hello, I hope you're getting paid for this little product nudge there Adam honey.). Now, you know me, I'm a total makeup maven (she said with a perfectly straight face -- hey, once upon a time, she had very practiced racoon eyes!), so I went to check it out. It's me by {me}zhgan (gods, I feel fucking pretentious just typing that). Now a sure sign that I am NOT a make up maven in truth was the FRICKIN CORONARY I almost had when I saw the price for that sucker -- $20! TWENTY AMERICAN DOLLARS? FOR A STICK OF EYELINER? SERIOUSLY?

Okay, I know I'm way out of touch. Maybe everybody who wears makeup these days pays twenty bucks for eyeliner. But me, even -- no, ESPECIALLY -- when I wore shitloads of it, I was feeling fancy if I bought a stick of $6 Revlon. My normal brand was Wet-n-Wild -- $.99, baby! Do they still make that crap? Not that it matters. I still have ten year old sticks of the only colors I would ever use anymore. If I could be arsed to wear makeup at all, of course.

Twenty dollars? Really? I bet millions of teens (oh hell, who am I kidding -- I bet half of Adam's really fervant fans are over 30.) have run screaming to the closest me by {me}zhgan *gag reflex* dealer and bought all the black, gray and navy they ever had or will have in stock.

Adam, seriously. You should get a royalty. Talk to Simon about it.

The subject of this post is actually a lie. I have The Band from Hell queued up to watch, but I've been doing other stuff, so I haven't started it yet.

I'm almost afraid to, it looks so bad. I'm hoping for camp-bad, but... the chances of that these days are so slim. *sigh*

Say, would you guys classify Coraline as "General" or "Horror"? I mean... it's kind of kiddie-horror, but it is weird and creepy as fuck. Hm. I'm not sure which of my viewing lists to put it on. I watched it last night. It was... can something be cute and creepy at the same time? And how come I feel like I've asked that question before? Anyway, I liked the cat and the Scotties. Especially the Bat Scotties. My kingdom to anyone who can find a really good bat Scotty icon!

Okay... wish me luck with the movie!
