damned_colonial, pointed me to an EXCELLENT resource: "Check my What? Privilege and What We Can Do About It."
The Free Dictionary defines privilege as, “a special advantage, immunity, permission, right, or benefit granted to or enjoyed by an individual, class, or caste” and, “such an advantage, immunity, or right held as a prerogative of status or rank, and exercised to the exclusion or detriment of others”. The first step that needs to be taken in order to go from pro-equaity in spirit to pro-equality in deed is to understand this concept and what it means in an anti-oppression activist context.

I finally got to finish watching Big Eden. I SWEAR I've seen that movie before -- I remember a lot of the scenes and characters VERY clearly. It's an absolutely adorable love story, with lots of tear-jerker moments, and that Northern Exposure sort of small home town feel that I just love. Highly recommended gay romance! Left me sniffling and smiling all at the same time. I love stories like that.
Other viewing tonight was Gods and Monsters, with Brendan Fraser and the one and only Sir Ian McKellan. Really understated, but sort of awesome and strange movie.
Okay, off to bed. Tomorrow is an errand day. Hurrah. :P
