lynner_kI know this because @Darth Vader tweeted it, and the infallible Wikipedia agreed. Apparently, though, the city of Los Angeles DISAGREES, and says that May 25 is Star Wars Day, because that's when Star Wars came out.
Pfft. Since when did The Man decide anything like this -- IT IS THE JOB OF THE SLATHERING FANHOARDES TO HONOR THEIR MEDIA IN THEIR CHOSEN MANNER.

Wow. I... don't know how I feel about this. But one thing is for sure, it's sad to see people in the LGBTQ community treat one another this way. It reminds me a lot of my days in Women's Studies, when there were factions based on how "radical" you were. In other words, how much you were or weren't willing to deal with men. It could get really vicious, sometimes. You may think that the lines were drawn in terms of sexuality, and in some cases that was true. But I found that there were as many lesbians who felt we needed to work with sympathetic men as there were lesbians who either didn't care to work with men, or who thought men were an active enemy.
Diversity sometimes = difficulty banding together for a cause. And I'd bet it's like that in ANY social cause.
Interesting note: if you read through the comments on the post, you'll see the "Butch Lesbian" Sam talk a little about the experience, and how everyone is taking the whole thing too seriously. "The show did what it was supposed to do -- get people talking."

The LOGO network is having it's annual NEWNOWNEXT awards voting right now. For those of you unfamiliar, LOGO is the LGBTQ TV network that is AWESOME (from what little I've gotten to see of it. *pout*) But anyway -- if you want to learn more about the awards and nominees, go HERE.

Though disappointing, I can't say I'm actually SURPRISED at Facebook's apparent homophobia.
The good thing is -- the movie's getting great publicity this way. *G*
ETA: HA! The Facebook group created to protest this just got an note from the producer, including an email from FB: "Thanks for contacting us about this. Your ad has now been re-reviewed and approved. We apologize for any inconvenience"

In much happier news -- OMG THIS IS MY FIFTH GRADE TEACHER! He was SO AWESOME. He taught all of us how to box, play football. He was such a great teacher, it makes me really happy to see he's still alive and kicking! Wow. That really blows my mind. LOL
