YES, that's EXACTLY how it is. And he's absolutely right about this album. I don't think I was as instantly hooked by any of their albums before this one. I'm junked out already. Others have sort of grown on me (Stand Up never really has -- I need to give it a better chance, I think), but now they stand as some of my all time favorite records. In fact, it's safe to say that "Before These Crowded Streets" and "Busted Stuff" are in my top 5.

Hulu has some great DMB stuff available. The new band shot makes me sad -- it looks so empty without LeRoi.

You know something I've learned from being out in Adam Lambert fandom? I had completely forgotten that the vast majority of people outside of LJ are NOT sophisticated about sexuality or LGBT culture and politics. AT ALL. There are some incredibly ignorant, bigoted things being said every few minutes, and it's hard just not to lose my mind and start screaming at people. And these are PRO-Adam people, supposedly! I know it's a lack of exposure/education/whatever, but... I find myself stopping every time sexuality is hinted at, skirted around, dismissed, ignored, or otherwise devalued, and wondering how much good I can do saying anything.

But of course, being the GIANT BIG MOUTH that I am, I got a thread closed today because I quietly flipped out that people were calling pictures of Adam holding his boyfriend's hand coming out of a club "Bad PR." STFU! ARRRGH. I thought I was pretty calm, considering some of the BS being spewed. I think the harshest word I used was "archaic". But still, SNIP, there it went. That is why I have my own squee zone, I guess, but MAN. WTF is wrong with people?

I know that's annoying to those of you who don't care, but I can't figure out how to get it into my sidebar thingy (CSS limited, here) and I want to be able to look at it every day for SIXTEEN DAYS! *dances wildly*

This is the first time since Buffy and Angel, I think, when I was SO invested in the story and the characters, AND I'm watching it real time. I'm kind of nervous. What if I go insane again?

Eh. At least Eric is hot. It's all worth it. *G*

Yesterday a dog set on fire was rescued by a police officer in Baltimore, who put out the fire with her sweatshirt and brought the dog to The Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Shelter (BARCS). The Swan Harbor Animal Hospital and the Main Line Animal Rescue in Pennsylvania have taken over treatment. The dog has been named Phoenix. Her condition is severe, but she responded strongly to the doctors and aides.

Money from the Franky Fund set up by BARCS (donate here) is helping to pay for her care and for the $1000 reward offered for identification of the criminal who did this.

ETA: I can't tell from the news stories how the Pennsylvania organization became involved. Emergency, emergency when the dog was brought to BARCS meant that the first vet available was called. The Franky Fund helps pay for treatment for abused animals. Those pictures taken with Santa Claus that I posted over Christmas were from a BARCS fundraiser for the Franky Fund.

I say again: WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE? The punishment for this behavior should be to set whatever asshole who did this on fire. GODDESS THAT MAKES ME REALLY REALLY MAD.

Speaking of DW, I'm sad that the activity has died down so much over there. I like it there better than pretty much anywhere else I've been so far... except for the lack of icons. I should really get more active in communities over there, since my FList is mostly dead. *sad*

I also need a new layout for my DW journal. I adore the colors of the one I have, but it's missing some key things (like a links list, link to my userinfo, etc.) that I'd kind of like to have, and it's too narrow. But again, as I have yet to learn CSS, I have no idea how to change any of it. It would be cool to have a banner, too, although I have no idea what I would use. Any ideas?

Side note: I found Velvet Goldmine. GODDESS I forgot how much I love this movie!!! Naked Ewan Macgregor, dancing on stage covered in baby oil and glitter? CLASSIC. Glam man, that's where it's at. Blame it on Adam.

I'm curious -- how absolutely miserable is Hedwig and the Angry Inch? It always sounded so tragic, I always kind of avoided it, but now I'm in the mood. What's the consensus around these parts?
