What was it about kids that made him feel peaceful? Ever since Sammy was little he felt that way, when he'd watched his brother sleeping, relaxed and innocent.

Now he lay on a vibrating hotel bed, orphan baby snoring on his chest. Dean felt... quiet, still in that same rare way. It had happened a few times when he and Ben had gone fishing, or when the kid fell asleep sagged completely against him while watching a movie.

Those moments, it was like he'd never been a servant in Hell or a third-generation monster hunter. He was just a man.
