theantijoss: (Books - Joy of a Good Book)
I just got Diana Gabaldon's AN ECHO IN THE BONE out of the library -- I'd been putting it off forever, hoping I could buy it and therefore take my time in reading it, but I'm just not going to have $30 for a book anytime in the near future, and the line for some of the other books I'm waiting for from the library are obscene, so I gave in. (Wow, that was one of my longer sentences, wasn't it?) Which means I have to read it fairly quickly, but I read at a pretty good clip, so not a problem. Or so I thought. I got a good chunk in last night and a bit today, when the library called and said THE PASSAGE by Justin Cronin came in. I thought the line for that was A LOT longer than this. Oy. There's some renewing in my future!

I can't express how happy I am that the heat finally broke! Seriously HAPPY. I mean, I'm excited to be able to sleep in my own bed again instead of on the fold out cot in The Pit with a bar in my back. Walking upstairs isn't like walking into the land of Soupair. I can only hope it stays this way! *knocks on wood* Hope all the rest of you who were suffering are doing better as well!

Today I've been working my way through season one of Blood Ties finally. I'm really enjoying it so far. I want to smack the male cop a lot, but it's not that bad. I've always liked the actress who plays Vicki, and of course Henry is adorable. One of the things I love best about it is that it tastes like Forever Knight, you know? That same low budget Canadian creep factor. It's too bad this show didn't make it that long. I know I'm going to be frustrated when I get to the part where it's cut off mid-season. I adore the books, too, and highly recommend them (that link leads to an omnibus with the first two in it). Tanya is a great writer.
